The “Tightening of visa issue conditions to Congolese by the Chinese Embassy in Congo and its implications for China-Congo trade relations.
It is getting harder and harder for Congolese to obtain visas to go and buy merchandises in China. Most prefer Dubai now. But at the same time, Chinese are every day opening new shops in Congo and so Congolese begin to fret what they see as a new kind of monopoly.
At the same time, Congo manufactures nothing! Congolese traders can only sell the same goods Chinese sell. They are all from China (and Dubai now). Chinese say they sell cheaper. The Congolese law forbids foreigners to open retails. They can only sell bulks. But this law is absolutely irrelevant and some Chinese (Indians and Lebanese) a re protected from the top. News of killings of Congolese in India have fueled a kind animosity against foreigners.
