Kinshasa, May 31st, 2018 (CPA) – A delegation of Rwandan and Burundi ministers in the sector of nergy is staying in Kinshasa since Tuesday to sign the agreements for the projects of the power plant Ruzizi III hydropower plant in eastern DRC, CPA was informed on Wednesday from the airport source. No details have been obtained by the Congolese authorities on this project, but it is believed that the Congolese Ministry of Energy and Water Resources will be at the center of these discussions. The proposed Ruzizi III plant, once built, will be added to the first two Ruzizi I and II currently in electricity the Great Lakes countries, especially the eastern part of the DRC, Rwanda and Burundi.
The Burundian delegation is made up of Domitian Ndohorubwayo and Cöme Manirakiza, Burundian ministers respectively of Hydrocarbons, Energy and Mines, and Finance and Budget. There is also in this delegation Mrs. Germaine Kamayerere, Secretary of State in charge of Energy and Water of Rwanda. Mr. Jeroboan Mzobanyaka, Director General of the Burundian Water Company and Chief Financial Officer of SINELAC (Great Lakes Electricity Company) are also part of this delegation. This visit of the delegations of Rwanda and Burundi in the energy sector comes just days after the DRC held meetings on the energy sector which put a special emphasis on the enrichment and diversification of public-private partnerships.
